Request #19-71

My name is Brian Wendt. I serve as the general counsel for the Port of Port Angeles. In the aftermath of the recent snow storms, the Port of Port Angeles is revisiting how/when it needs to close its offices as a result of emergencies and inclement weather. In addition, the Port of Port Angeles needs to consider how/when it communicates such a decision to the public and port employees, how it is required to compensate any employee as a result of a closure/shutdown (eg. paid, vacation, sick, leave without pay, etc), and if there is a category of employees that must report to work (or remain on standby) regardless of emergency or inclement weather. I've notice that the Port of Seattle has posted notices/advisement to the public and its staff regarding closures on its website. I'm hoping you might have policies/procedures that address concerns relating to emergencies and inclement weather. If you do have such policies, could you please provide me with a copy of the same? Thank you! Brian Wendt
